What FSC is crying out for is an INTELLIGENT highlights program. The nightly show with Bobby McMahon's occasional analysis is OK but, again, is a little bit too cheesy. Take Mitch Peacock. Surely that's a made up name!? Sounds like a character from the Simpsons in the vein of Troy McClure.
I actually find the program's low production values, presenter names (Peacock! St Louis!) and in-studio chumminess a little endearing, but it's not what I look for in a smart, insightful analysis of the weekend's games.
I think this is a problem with Rupert Murdoch in general, in that he creates media that appeal to the lowest common denominator. I just wish there was one...just ONE...football program that realized its audience might actually know something about football and would appreciate a higher level of discourse that the beautiful game deserves.
I am excited about FSC picking up the Italian Seria A now that Juve is coming back where it belongs.
FFF and FSR are OK. McMahon is the best thing to happen to this channel. A couple of more pundits like him would definitely help.
I can survive the summer on MLS and Copa America, I hope...
Setanta is working on getting added to more cable TV stations nationwide, but other than in a few remote areas, the majority of people won't be able to get Setanta on cable.
The next best alternative to getting Setanta on DirecTV (it's not on Dish yet) is ITVN.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Fewer repeats of matches(Do we really need to see the same scoreless draw repeated multiple times over the course of the following week?)
More classic Premiership/FA Cup matches
Less cheesy promos
Plus, FFF would be great to watch more than once per week. Either that or have them do other kinds of programming.
With exclusive rights to Serie A, a quality preview/review show is in order I think...as long as the FSWC canada crew doesn't do it. I'm sure there's something in England that FSC could show instead.
I don't like the repackaged FSWC crew. I'd like to see an American-based FSC crew doing programming for FSC.
I'm not someone who wants to see everything "americanized" but I simply don't like the FSWC crew. They're very annoying both in their style and, more importantly, their accents. I never realized how much a thick Candadian accent bothered me until I started watching these guys. Australian, British and standard American accents are fine. That Canadian accent is like listening to the scratching of a chalkboard.
Id vote to pull the plug on the whole thing, its awful. Sell it to a company that knows how to produce live sports programming, not espn style but with some creativity and quality to the production, the talent etc, this channel is just brutal.
2) I only just arrived at the Super Saturday+ party. I'm still a little wowed that they have so many goals - very pleasant. But, frankly, the presenters are horrible and I don't like the format.
3) Broadband, schmorband.
4) Remarkable new show - amen to that. Presumably they get access to all the footage - use it for something.
Bring over SoccerAM and you'll attract more fans and viewers. Also Football Icon American's like reality TV.
Please stop replaying the same games over and over come up with something different.
Have the Copa Libertadores in English.
Since you already have Football Asia and Gambare! J-League I would love to see a Korean K-League review show.
-Hold on the end of matches a bit...the atmosphere on the pitch and in the stands after a big match is fun to watch.
-Sack the ad sales staff--the demos MUST be better than the horrible ads they run - get rich from home schemes, "male enhancement" products, debt relief services, etc.
That'd be a start...
