EPL Talk: Wish-List for Fox Soccer Channel

    HD would be nice

That's a pretty good list. RE: Super Saturday, the timing of the show isn't a problem for me. In fact, I think a late afternoon wrap-up program is spot on, as not everyone has the time or the inclination to watch every game. But, my problem with Super Saturday is its tone. It seems it's designed to appeal to impressionable 14 year old boys. It's heavily scripted, cheesy, commercialized and tries too hard to create a sense of excitement, which just rings false. I'm not convinced either presenter knows anything about football, such is the lack of insight offered. Maybe they do, it's hard to tell when they always read the hyperbole scripted for them on the teleprompter.

What FSC is crying out for is an INTELLIGENT highlights program. The nightly show with Bobby McMahon's occasional analysis is OK but, again, is a little bit too cheesy. Take Mitch Peacock. Surely that's a made up name!? Sounds like a character from the Simpsons in the vein of Troy McClure.

I actually find the program's low production values, presenter names (Peacock! St Louis!) and in-studio chumminess a little endearing, but it's not what I look for in a smart, insightful analysis of the weekend's games.

I think this is a problem with Rupert Murdoch in general, in that he creates media that appeal to the lowest common denominator. I just wish there was one...just ONE...football program that realized its audience might actually know something about football and would appreciate a higher level of discourse that the beautiful game deserves.

Yeah, Super Saturday has to either go or change format.
I am excited about FSC picking up the Italian Seria A now that Juve is coming back where it belongs.

FFF and FSR are OK. McMahon is the best thing to happen to this channel. A couple of more pundits like him would definitely help.

I can survive the summer on MLS and Copa America, I hope...

Is Sentanta is going to be available through a cable package? I don't want to change over to the Dish Network just for one channel

    Anonymous,

Setanta is working on getting added to more cable TV stations nationwide, but other than in a few remote areas, the majority of people won't be able to get Setanta on cable.

The next best alternative to getting Setanta on DirecTV (it's not on Dish yet) is ITVN.

    Cheers,

SSN more than once a day, maybe early evening, late night and morning

Fewer repeats of matches(Do we really need to see the same scoreless draw repeated multiple times over the course of the following week?)

    More classic Premiership/FA Cup matches

    Less cheesy promos

I'd like to see some better original programming with better talent.

Plus, FFF would be great to watch more than once per week. Either that or have them do other kinds of programming.

With exclusive rights to Serie A, a quality preview/review show is in order I think...as long as the FSWC canada crew doesn't do it. I'm sure there's something in England that FSC could show instead.

I don't like the repackaged FSWC crew. I'd like to see an American-based FSC crew doing programming for FSC.

I'm not someone who wants to see everything "americanized" but I simply don't like the FSWC crew. They're very annoying both in their style and, more importantly, their accents. I never realized how much a thick Candadian accent bothered me until I started watching these guys. Australian, British and standard American accents are fine. That Canadian accent is like listening to the scratching of a chalkboard.

I agree with Anonymous: A little more Sky programming would be nice to see on FSC. I catch Through The Night most nights. I'd have to think Sky does some sort of EPL highlight/wrap-up show that could be aired in place of Stupor Saturday Plus.

The best thing about fsc is the epl and sky sports. The worst: the rest of fsc.

Id vote to pull the plug on the whole thing, its awful. Sell it to a company that knows how to produce live sports programming, not espn style but with some creativity and quality to the production, the talent etc, this channel is just brutal.

    1) The time delay doesn't bother me. If my neighbors were cheering a few minutes before a goal b/c they were listening on the radio - that would be annoying - but I here I am pretty much in isolation and often watch games hours after the face on dvr.

    2) I only just arrived at the Super Saturday+ party. I'm still a little wowed that they have so many goals - very pleasant. But, frankly, the presenters are horrible and I don't like the format.

    3) Broadband, schmorband.

    4) Remarkable new show - amen to that. Presumably they get access to all the footage - use it for something.

I would like to see a Serie A highlight show and new show, they may need to be two different shows but that would be fine. Keep the Milan Channel, it's great.

Bring over SoccerAM and you'll attract more fans and viewers. Also Football Icon American's like reality TV.

Please stop replaying the same games over and over come up with something different.

Have the Copa Libertadores in English.

Since you already have Football Asia and Gambare! J-League I would love to see a Korean K-League review show.

-Sack the whole announcing (AND writing) crew with the exception of Nick Webster and Bobby M. This cheesy, breezy, ain't it all just a fun joke ESPN style does not work with soccer--people actually take the game very seriously. Plus they're just not prime-time talent--they look like they should be on some small-market station in Saskatoon. And Christian Miles' delivery makes me literally want to jump out the window. Awful.

-Hold on the end of matches a bit...the atmosphere on the pitch and in the stands after a big match is fun to watch.

-Sack the ad sales staff--the demos MUST be better than the horrible ads they run - get rich from home schemes, "male enhancement" products, debt relief services, etc.

    That'd be a start...

I watch all of the Premiership Games that would air on Sentanta on my laptop by using www.soccerstreams.com The feed that I watch is from Asia but with Engish Commentary and the feed is a good 2 or 3 minutes behind the US feed. I have no problem with the kickoffs being delayed 10 minutes as long as I get to watch the games. I really don't see how this is that big of a deal since we get to see games that didn't air 5 years ago here in the States.

SoccerShoutPhil, what's your problem with games being shown on broadband? I would love for FSC to offer this (for the suggested monthly fee the Gaffer noted)!

More EPL coverage from SKY Sports. For the last 2 weeks, I've been watching the EPL from ESPN Star Sports via broadband and WOW, they blew away FSC with their EPL coverage. Not only do they pick up Sky's feed rather than the TWI feed, but their pregame and postgame shows are outstanding. If the FSC producers can just take a look at ESPN Star Sports coverage, they too would be amazed.

Here’s a Broadband Video that will show you how to check availability by postcode, how perform a broadband speed test and where to find broadband forums to answer your questions. There are also offers for SKY Broadband.
