T&T is a long shot to get out of the first CONCACAF qualifying group and at this point the US is going to struggle to be in South Africa. Besides the the US was missing the one American player who is dangerous in that attack: Landon Donovan, and it would have been interesting to see how England defended him. Otherwise the US doesn't have a single player who could make England's player pool let alone anyone who could make Capello's final 22 man squad for the Euros or World Cup.

But I did like what Gerrard and Barry in particular gave England against the US. Off the ball they were outstanding and really made the US players look out classed.

Right now if England were in the Euros they'd be one of the best best to win the tournament. They should be in finals because Russia violated the rules of sportsmanship by having the qualifer on turf in October. Costa Rica does the same thing in CONCACAF which is why I stated two years ago their trip to Germany 2006 in my mind was tainted. In that one swoop, he stroked all those egos ("you would have been on the first team, but you deserve the rest"), silenced all the media speculation about why some players got chosen over others, and gave himself some room to try out a bunch of players he wouldn't have otherwise.
