EPL Talk: West Ham Should Fear The Worst

  • kevin · 11 months ago
who writes this bollocks??? we were punished at the time, no one metions any other factors i.e. liverpool playing a reserve team at fulham or sheff utd playing like donkeys against wigan ....the only proof of the 3rd party agreement was an alleged conversation between kia's solicitor and scott duxbury.can i suggest the school boy who wrote this article fuck back to more journalistic work for the sheffield star , a more biased peice of work im yet to see utter utter utter bollocks
  • peterthomasoleary · 11 months ago
hahaha, put the boot on the other foot? imagine if sheffield united played a player who was inneligable and managed to scrape out of the relegation scrap and west ham being relegated. would you think a £5.5 million fine would be a fair punishment considering the financial gain for staying up?. sheff utd playing like donkeys v wigan, very true but not against any rules. liverpool playing a reserve team at fulham, very true but once again not really against any rules. playing a player who is ineligable is.
  • patrick · 11 months ago
umm Steve Kabba... They did break rule u18.

Maybe if the PL, dock WHU points they should sue SUFC. What do you think?
  • peterthomasoleary · 11 months ago
you can go on for ever with the old gentlemans agreement that we had concerning kabba. man utd with tim howard and everton, these verbal agreements between clubs/ managers happen all the time.
  • patrick · 11 months ago
first off it wasn't a gentleman's agreement, it was on BOTH Watford and SUFC's web sites. just look here http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,104... or here http://soccerlens.com/did-sheffield-united-viol...

and secondly even if it was a gentleman's agreement, isn't that the same damn thing that you want to punish west ham on???

and just cause Man U does it doesn't make it right. right?

    sort out the logic PLEASE.
  • cloutty · 11 months ago
    utter cock !!!

Paul Bestall im guessing your a sheffield united fan. What complete b*llocks
  • Paul Millard · 11 months ago
Why should West Ham be worried ?,Tevez is at Man United while owned by MSI kia Joorbachien has threatened to move him on if United can't pay the £32 million -not just the Hammers gulty of 3rd party influence then ! .That great suitor of selective 'morale' justice would perhaps care to exsplain how he can have a stake in Sheffield United ,the Chengu Blades &Ferenvos -third party justice in the extreme .!
  • Dandare · 11 months ago
Since when does the instigation of yet another inquiry mean guilty? I always understood that a punishment had to be proportionate to the crime, and West Ham have paid far too much already. The only thing proven (because WestHam held their hands up to it) was that Tevez could have been transferred away from them without their agreement; wow, that really gave them a big advantage didn't it! It's about time this witch hunt ended, but I fear it will continue until West Ham dissappear forever.

For the record, I'm not a West Ham fan.
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
HAHAHAHAHA they guys a spurs fan for a start you idiots. Luck at his recent articlles. Id hardly call a 5 million fine a punishment in the circumstans. I however AM a Sheff Utd fan and find our chairmans quest for compensation embarrasing. We had plenty of chances to save our selves in the premier league but we simply were poor for that last couple of months. I dont mind being relegates when we were sh*t, because we were. But i think everyone in football thought the original decison of the premier league panel was a joke, teams get thrown out of the FA cup for fielding ineligible players.

We all knew the tevez and mascherano transfrers were suspect and last years FA panel appear to have confirmed that he was not eligible to play. Should it prove that this was the case AND that the 3rd party deal with MSI was in fact still in place then i would have thought point docking would be in order due to deciet and breaking further rules.

However also adamantly feel that the blades should not benefit from this either.

I dont blame West Ham, the people who signed those deals are gone but i believe the premier league needs to taking care of its own disciplinary matter and make the rules and punishments black and white, instead of hiding behind its legislation to hand it off to a 'neutral' panel and avoiding responsibility.

As for the Scott Duxbury conversation, obviously the FA and Premier League dont see this as silly though do they?

In all honesty i think very little will happen even if the FA and Premier League find West Ham guilty, the fact West Ham are skint may add to that.
  • peterthomasoleary · 11 months ago
agree with everything you say chris walker. sheffield united shouldnt recieve any financial gain in my eyes. like you say if you break rules and field inneligable players the result is always being thrown out, point deduction would have been the right thing. as for sheffield united, they could have stayed up themselves by winning the games and getting the points needed, at the end of the day i dont think sheff utd were good enough to stay up. just imagine if man utd needed to win against west ham on the final game of the season to win the title and lost to a tevez goal? could you imagine the uproar that would have caused? . an intersting thing that came about at the end of the season when tevez was going to man utd, west ham i believe were argueing that they should be recieveing payment for tevez, joorabchin refused, disagreeing stateing he had all documents proveing west ham never owned him and any money would be going to him. he stated he would take west ham to court over the matter and would provide evidence in his documents and send them to the fa..... then he agreed to drop the whole case against west ham and amazingly now is on the payroll at upton park!!! id love to see an end to the whole thing as i feel if not it could drag on for years but to be honest west ham arnt to blame its the fa at fault.
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
    and excuse the poor typing!
  • Anders · 11 months ago
Or they could find in our favour. It could be seen as a good opportunity to clear ourselves from having to pay compensation to Sheff Utd. Obviously Buxbury hasn't had a chance to answer the claims made against him at the last 'arbitration', this is his opportunity to counter these claims.
  • Paul Millard · 11 months ago
Just to clarify the great suitor of 'morale' justice is Kevin McCabe Sheffield United 's chairman who never mentioned 'justice 'when Sheffield United beat the Hammers 3-0 with Tevez playing .The Hammers beat Manchester United 2-1 at Upton Park with Tevez playing for United, how on earth can anyone proove Tevez kept the Hammers in the Premier League .Like a junkie needing a heroin fix -Kevin McCabe has an unhealthy fixation about West Ham United !,The real reason why Sheffield United got relegated is solely because McCabe wouldn't give Warnock money to spend in the January transfer window &because Rob Hulse broke his leg .Won't mention Tevez 's deal at Man United McCabe will you ? ,of course not !!,you just see the Hammers as an easy way to get a quick buck !
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
Id say its more down to warnock signing players for 'next season' in the transfer window! LOL. In all honesty i thought we were unlucky losing Hulse but we made to many mistakes and ultimately paid the price. And im assuming its McCabe you think is trying to get a quick buck? I dont know any blades who think we should benefit (none that are above the amoeba level intelligence anyway). It was cringeworthy watching McCabe and the idiots protesting at Westminster. I dont think they will find in your favour Anders but i think very will happen and it will be swept under the carpet and i dont care if it is. I just want the Blades to get promoted and achieve stability, we are a good club, a good fanbase, have a good stadium, good academy, but time and time again we seem to end up in controversy and god knows how we manage it, life is a blade is rarely dull - just frustrating!!!
  • Lee Trundle · 11 months ago
A Tottenham fan who lives in Sheffield?!

Try to get some less biased who has knowledge on the subject to write next time.
  • peterthomasoleary · 11 months ago
the fella is the most unbiased football fan ive ever listened to.
Reckon he just wants to see a bit of fairness in football.
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
I think the fact he called west ham a great club would say he isnt biased against West Ham, im not gonna argue he might have gone on a rant though.
  • steve · 11 months ago
Dear oh dear.........if it wasn't such a ridiculous piece I might be worried lol. WQho writes this sensationalist stuff.
  • Matt · 11 months ago
I'm a west ham fan, I think were screwed! We blantly lied. Everyone knows it. Only proving it will be one word against another. So we may get away with it once again! Which would be nice. Up the hammers!
  • Trevor Nonce · 11 months ago
I'm a Sheffield Utd fan, I think were screwed! We blantly tried to get West Ham to pay us for being rubbish. Everyone knows it. Only proving it will be one word against another. So we may get away with it once again! Which would be nice. Up the Blades!
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
well you never know Matt, id be more concerned about the faxt it seems all your players wll leave followed by Zola, personally id rather see crap teams who hang on year in year out like Fulham go down for all Roy Hodgsons attractive football principles theyre turning into another Coventry, Southampton and the list goes on
  • Dagenham Dave · 11 months ago
Why do Spurs fans try an invent a rivallry with West Ham, is it because Arsenal don't give one about Spurs anymore and Chelsea never have. Our rivals are Millwall and Spurs don't come anywhere close. Try Fulham, they might care, oh and Matt is so obviously not a genuine West Ham fan, Chris you fell for it mate.
  • shame · 11 months ago
What a poor article, written purely to get attention. Well you got that but people think you are an idiot. Happy now?
  • Chris_Walker · 11 months ago
meh, none too bothered Dave, my mate at works a hammer and they are pretty much his words. I dont think spurs try to invent a rivallry with you mate and i certainly cant see evidence of that otherwise he'd be calling you a poxy little club or something but i will let you argue with paul on that, im a blade - dont give two hoots about the cockney and the yids having a handbags at dawn
  • Laurence · 11 months ago
I have been a West Ham Fan for years and I don't have a good feeling about this. Unfortunately this situation is a symptom of what football has become. I don't think West Ham can win this one. The Premier League has a lot to answer for - most of all for allowing years of out-of-control spending in which only clubs with multi-billionaire owners can afford to put a champion team together. At the time of the acquisition of Tevez and Mascherano, under Terry Brown, there would have no way the Hammers could have paid for players of their calibre. So they negotiated a contract which is quite common in other parts of the world. This s League that is definitely in need of some parity by-laws. A salary cap would be a start. The failings of the Premier League is another debate, however. The fact is West Ham did an illegal act for which they were fined. Although their website suggests confidence, my gut tells me that they will be scapegoated and hence condemned to to a period in the football wilderness - which is a shame for football, academy football and, above all, their long-suffering supporters.
  • Joe · 11 months ago
"Dock West Ham the 9 points they won using Tevez illegally."

    Pathetic.
If West Ham are docked points for game we won with Tevez, surely game we lost with Tevez should also be nil pointers.
Sheff Utd beat us 3-0 with Tevez, if we were such a 1 man team, why couldn't Tevez Utd beat them?
Sheff Utd tried to throw the last game of the season and were punished for it. They also sold Steve Kabba to Watford and instructed him not to play in the fixture between the two clubs, a game which Sheff Utd won 1-0. If anyone deserved to be on the end of this 'injustice' it's Sheff Utd.
  • dave · 11 months ago
I would like to set the record straight among most of you idiots.

The clause in question stated that Carlos Tevez could be sold by MSI at any time during the season.

Now, if anyone thinks for one minute think that what West Ham are going through for this very minor clause (i didn't actually have any effect on football did it?) because they knew they had done something wrong need their head tested.

The premier league and the FA will be so seriously sued by West Ham if they are relegated that they won't be able to exist anymore, ask any serious lawyer, they can't re-open this case again. This will be more a bit of fun for West Ham than anything. I'm not a West Ham supporter either.
  • patrick · 11 months ago
    frankly its all just absurd.

I really don't care if they are docked, relegated and the youth squad is fielded next year. I'll still support my club.

But BUT, there is a point when all credibility of the FA and PL is thrown out the window. and how Duxbury is still at the club is beyond me.

But seriously, lets dig up some rule U18 violations by about every top club, based on verbal agreements. Its all just a bit much.
  • GoonerGlenn · 11 months ago
The original judgement was based on false evidence, of course they can re-open the case. West Ham lied, have been found out by an independent panel and should face the consequences.
Hammers fans need to face facts, the broke the rules, lied to protect their interests and now face financial ruin. Harsh but fair
  • Phil · 11 months ago
I feel sorry for the fans of West Ham. They have been run by some proper rogues and they are the ones that will suffer. We at Hull City have had some awful owners in the past who nearly put us out of business.
I think the biggest problem here is the FA and Premier League Board. THEY messed up in the first place and should have thrown WHU from the premier league- as all competitions should have parity and fielding an illegible player should be banned from the competition as the case of Droylesdon and Bury in the most recent FA Cup.
That said I feel strongly that on ce the original decision was made everbody should have stood by it. Sheff Utd should not get anything from WHU. They were rubbish for the last few games of the season and did not desrve to stay up. It is embarrasing to football in this country that we have McCabe twittering on and on and on about this. They went down because they were the worst TEAM. YES Tevez should not have played- but who is to say that someone else would not have filled his boots amply and the results would have been the same.
  • storm · 11 months ago
Thank fuk for this Phil guy, the only non-biast opionion in all those comments!

For the record, the new Icalandic board have done nothing wrong, the only thing they have done in this case is put there hands up about Tevez (this is the reason WHU were only fined, does anyone here no anything about court judgements. Have u never seen a pido get off 'lighter' because he pleaded guilty? Well the same happened with the new board at west ham.)
That said (as a WHU fan, i do think the intinial judgement was to light, and we should have been docked points when we were first found guilty)

This will all be swept under the carpet because the FA no they have fuked up (and they no it), and the sooner it goes away for them, and the rest of football for that matter, the better.

Sorry... this has to be one of the worse written articles i have ever read.

Really? Well then, Peter...welcome to the internet...
  • Nate · 11 months ago
    "Internet" is capitalized
  • Just · 11 months ago
What a total idiot.....People forget Sheffield United only achieved 36 points....They deserved to go down for that alone.......
  • Matt · 11 months ago
How dare you question the colour of my blood! I demand pistols at dawn! Am I right in thinking this isn't about rule u18, but about whether an agreement, verbal or written, was put in place by whu after we had our wrists smacked? Let's be honest, it's just a witch hunt. (So if duxbury weighs the same as a duck, BURN HIM!) nobody really cares, there's probably only 5 people in the entire world, who because of a sense of injustice, feel the need to keep banging on about it. Unfortunately, they happen to be a club chairman, a politician, a 2 bob actor, and the (wealthy) owners of 2 law firms. Maybe we could hire someone to take them all for a little drive?
