Numbers 2, 3, 4, 6, and probably 9 won't be going to Newcastle.
In other words, that leaves a group of washed up, useless managers and the inexperienced Alan Shearer.

Sorry, but what complete and utter rubbish this story is!
a) 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are ludicrous and very unlikely - apart from '4' I certainly hope so anyway!
b) it's doubtful that Shearer is most likely
c) just because whoever we go for is "2nd choice" it doesn't mean that he isn't likely to be successful
Add Hiddink, Houllier, Keegan and the like as greater possibles than some of those you've mentioned and perhaps Mourinho as a very outside contender (though I'm not sure if that miracle happened he would necesasrily be the right choice, without millions to spend etc)

Believe me Jose Mourinho will be on the shortlist. As well as Hiddink and Scolari too.
Newcastle wouldn't entertain most of those names especially the likes of Mclaren and Warnock. Do me a favour!

I actually think there are a few decent candidates for the Newcastle job, if they want to go British. The problem is, they'd all be risky. The first is in this list - Steve Coppell. But I don't think it's too likely. Then there's Paul Ince, who I think could do an excellent job (if instant success was not demanded). What about Aidy Boothroyd? Also, Neil Warnock won't happen but he is doing a fantastic job at Palace.
However, to be honest I expect a foreign appointment, since none of these candidates are "high-profile" enough. David Ginola for manager? :-)

It seems the toon faithfull are unanimous in their choice of former Chelsea man Jose M. Who knows he may accept ?and what about big Phil Scolari? both proven winners. As far as homegrown managers possibly M. O`N. ,or Hughes, if none of the above are available, what about Shearer backed by Sir Bobby as an adviser.

I personally feel Hoddle deserves another shot at a Premiership job. I rate him fairly highly. He did an excellent job at Southampton but something tells me the Toon Army won't be too happy if he was appointed.

Of the list on this web site, I am absolutely appauled at the names on it!! ABSOLUTELY dissappointed at the names being linked to us for the vacant managers job. We are the laughing stock of football, as we offered it to Redknapp!!??!! WHY??? We are considering Jol, McClaren, and the rest (other than Big Al - but not ready yet!!) are hopeless, and O'neil we offered it to him a year or so ago, he turned us down! WHY DO WE OFFER IT AGAIN TO A BLOKE WHO TURNED US DOWN??!!
As for players, why do we chase players that turn us down also, if they turn us down once they are not going to give us there 100% commitment are they!?!?

Mourinho will not take the job especially when Benitez is being linked with a sack. He would rather handle Liverpool. Martin Jol could be a better bet at the current stage.

One point regarding sam's departure: i dont think he was sacked, i think he left. frankly, i think he was starting to crack up at toon. his formations were mad, he said things to the press that were fantasy, his enterage of sports philosophers was beyond normal... so I dont think the board sacked him, i think he was clearly on the brink of a crack up, his world and reality were just not jiving...
as for the next manager, fresh start, no like for like... harry is just the south coast version of sam... hope the board takes its time and gets the right man, personally, i dont jose is beyond belief, the man likes a project, the toon is, if nothing else, a project..

My 1st choice is Mourinho and I think he would sign given a chance. We have the money to spend, the basis of a squad and to take us to a premiership would have him remembered forever as a legend.
@nd choice definately Hiddink, after what he did with Australia he has my eternal respect (bear in mind as and international coach you can only make do with what you have, there are no transfers)

Not convinced by Martin Jol either and his unhealthly fascination of buying poor midfielders for extortionate prices..

My Toon, couldn't agree with you more. In the course of the Premiership we have had 7 Managers, Chelsea have had 7, Spurs have had 8, England have had 7. Did you here the London press saying England needed stability, and MacClaren had only been given 15 months which is too short?

Allardyce had to go, shit manager who was a one trick pony. Getting decent results with below average players.
He was never suited to the toon.
Didn't knopw what to do with above average players.
He was tactically hopeless.
Good on Mike Ashley. Now he has to step up and appoint a great manager.
Hitzfeld, Jose, Van Gaal, Shearer.
I'll put Shearer there because the likes of Klinsman, Rykaard, Koeman, Hughes all went straight in at fairly high profile jobs.
Then again there is Brian Robson, Southgate, Ardilles, etc....

the list creator is obviously a Mackem and is taking the piss. Ashley is a genious and will pull us out of this mess. What pisses me off the most is managers say they need 5 years? Sven took 5 weeks and Man City are on fire and people wating for the bubble to burst, it wont! I hate the media all southern London club supporters. Spurs have had more managers than us in the last 15 years but they get no criticism for no stability. And too everyone saying we are no longer a big club, bollox, we are one of the few clubs who would fill wembley with no problems, everyone is interested in Newcastle United, there wasnt as much media coverage when chelsea sacked Mourinho nor was there with Spurs.

Everyone points to his success at bolton, what success? he did nothing, never broke into the top 6, nor get anywhere near the fa cup. Did get to the carling cup final but if the smoggies also got there, that shows how shit the tournament was that year!
