... just so I understand what you've just stated. You're claiming that one of the most sought after midfielders in the world ended up at Spurs? So obviously Spurs know something that Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea don't , right?

I don't get it. If he is one of the most sought after players in the world then Spurs know what everyone else knows...he is one of the most sought after players in the world and if he is that then 20m is getting hi on the cheap, especialy as a 22 year old.
I for one am very happy, check out the youtube videos, this guy is better than Jenas, Huddlestone, Zokora and anyone one else we play central midfield, put together.

amazing how he is shite to all those who follow other teams, when he signs for a club other than their own. modric would be a decent signing for any of the top four teams as a midfielder. absolutely no doubt. he is pedigree.

This bloke is quality..talk a bit about him on WSD forums. Saw him play in the game in which Arsene Wenger commented that he was indeed a very good player but an expensive one as well. Don't really think Wenger wanted to buy him after hearing the price tag. Liverpool and Ajax were also interested but both were put off by the price tag. Very talented should play in the middle of the park. Spurs still need to sought out that defence and a left sided winger if indeed modric plays in the middle of the park.

the reason he eventually came to tottenham over newcastle, arsenal, chelsea, bayern munich and intermilan and barcelona late on is that only newcastle and spurs were prepared to offer him a guaranteed start if fit. the other teams would not do it. He wanted to go to Barca, but he sees this as a good stepping stone. Did you see what he did to Lampard and Gerrard at wembley?? He absolutley destroyed them

Egg on the face is rather unlikely given that a handful of others have also just reported this (presumably skysports and bbc aren't awake yet).

One of the reporters is the Dinamo official site and another is the official Spurs club site. It's probably safe to believe them, even if you're not comfortable taking the word of 'tribal football'. ;)

I was following the stories about Modric since they first started surfacing in January. This is indeed a big coup for Spurs and enhances their chances of keeping Berbatov around.

Modric will be the playmaker that Spurs are lacking in the middle. I wonder if one or more of Jenas, Lennon or Malbranque are on the way out?
