  • Remember that referees have to view incidents at ground level and, with the speed of play, often with players between them and the ball; TV cameras have a bird's eye view from which it's much easier to see the full action. And that's before we even get on to slow motion replays and different angled shots from a multitude of cameras. Nevertheless the standard of EPL refereeing is too patchy. It seems to take a long time for some of the younger ones to come through the system whilst others, like Poll, spend too much time trying to be the centre of attention. I've yet to see a red card for diving in the penalty area. Why? It's blatant cheating. They should be summarily banished. A few of those and diving would be eradicated.
  • Corradi got a second yellow card today for diving in the penalty area against Man United and got sent off.
