Personally, I prefer the delay. It adds more suspense. Plus, we get some comedic relief from watching England underachieve yet again in major qualifying tournaments ; )

This break in EPL action has come at such a terrible time...so much has gone on in the past few days and the next few weeks of matches will really be interesting to watch.
