Hopefully Pompey's defensive trouble continue through sunday and Spurs start to roll on.

Re: Newcastle United Hits New Low In 2-1 Carling Cup Loss To Tottenham

That game was abysmal. Neither team are going to stay in the Prem at this rate. I saw one or two things that game me hope as a Spurs supporter, but even they were might be a stretch.

Gomes is looking quality.
Woodgate is class.
Giovanni turned the game when he came on.
Lennon and O'Hara give it their all.

Zokora is still shocking. Assou-Ekotto can't be bothered. Pavalychenko is very slow. And Bale has lost his pace.

Re: Newcastle United Hits New Low In 2-1 Carling Cup Loss To Tottenham

Weston,

Did you watch the entire 90 minutes? It was one of the most boring matches I've watched in months, especially the first half. If Spurs had been playing anyone other than Newcastle, Tottenham would have lost.

Cheers,
The Gaffer

Re: Newcastle United Hits New Low In 2-1 Carling Cup Loss To Tottenham

How predictable, I knew that no matter how the game ended up, be it a defensive struggle ending in a 1-0 win or a 5-4 shootout, the game would result in thousands of media articles saying "(insert losing team) crisis at new low after terrible loss"

The barcodes actually had more chances than Spurs - one shot was cleared off the goal line by Woody - and had more posession, so its not like either team played terribly, Spurs just had better finishing. I just hope that actually winning a game on domestic play can get big MO on Spurs' side.

Re: Newcastle United Hits New Low In 2-1 Carling Cup Loss To Tottenham

Unless Newcastle strike it rich in the other transfer window or Venables is a competent manager then I think Newcastle are going to be relegated. That's right...

Tottenham started slow last year and rebounded, but Newcastle are just in shambles.....they cannot stay up IMO.
