  • Nice to see both sets of fans doing the right thing and honoring the victims. Maybe England fans should take this lesson to heart on how to act but I doubt it.
  • id still like to know what the explosions were...sounded like firecrackers outside of the stadium, perhaps by bitters who were to cowardly to show their face in the stadium to be disrespectful. the tickers acknowledged it when it happened but most news stories dont mention it. any ideas?
  • I saw that story on Soccernet, and it just illustrates the idiotic behavior I was worried about in the first place. Obviously whoever was behind this knew exactly when the minute of silence was going to be and chose to ruin it with these firecrackers instead of behaving with simple human dignity.

I understand the rivalry between City and United and to be honest, these two teams should never have been scheduled to play against each other this weekend. With that said, today wasn't about a rivalry. It was about honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the Munich air disater. That goes above and beyond anything that can happen on the field, no matter what two teams are playing. It's a matter of respect and behaving with human decency. All that was asked of these belligerent fools was for them to keep their mouths shut for a minute. 60 seconds! But no, someone had to light firecrackers and ruin the moment.
  • I heard the pre-game memorial and it was moving even over the radio. Setanta in one of the worst programming decisions of all times failed to cover the event. Luckily some yahoo didn't ruin it.
