Manchester City's new owners have declared their intent to strip the top EPL clubs of their best players and have already begun tapping up Ronaldo, Torres, and Fabregas by publicly naming them as targets.

Mike Ashley has already sold at least one important Newcastle player against the manager's publicly expressed better judgment. Will the Glasers back Sir Alex and turn down an offer of $270 million for Ronaldo? Will Hicks and Gillette, who balked at a few million to buy Benitez's key pick of the fall transfer window, have what it takes to just say no to the sheikhs' petrodollars?

When selling players becomes more profitable than winning, even owners who are not under financial pressure will be tempted to take the money and run. If they don't do the honorable thing, if they sell out to Abu Dhaby, that would be the end of the Premiership as we know it.

Big names don't guarantee big trophies
There is no doubt that Citeh will have some big names enter the frey, but I can't see them being able to keep a huge squad full of top players happy at Eastlands....United have always had big names, but the "supporting cast" was always top notch and came mostly from within and grew up in the ranks...Giggs, Scholesy, Beckham, the Nevilles all played their part alonside stalwarts such as Denis Irwin, Pallister, Bruce,...put that with the bargain Cantona's and Sheringham and Ole et all and then sprinkle in a few mega transfers of Rooney, Ferdinand, Van the man and Tevez and you have your success...Who do Citeh have to compliment their 35 million man other than Elano?

Sorry matches overseas won't happen. Let the Premier League try it and I could very well see FIFA tell the English FA that the first game played overseas sees them lose their first division status, the England National Team is banned from UEFA and FIFA based competitions, and that any player in the Premier League is banned from from any FIFA based competition.

Overseas players will move to continue and play for their country and things will return to normal in a short amount of time.
