Of course FSC sees Setanta a synergy while they see GolTV as a competitor.

Many on this page do not seem to understand the properties owned by FSC and often times offloaded onto Setanta are niche programming whose viewership is limited, and thus FSC can offset their losses on to Setanta a network that shows zero Western Hemisphere based programming.

Now look at GOL TV. They have the 2nd division in Mexico which certainly garners some viewership. It's not the Primera division in popularity but it has a following. GOL TV has Guatemala, Columbia, Peru and several other leagues that have an audience.

FSC has MLS rights, but GOL TV has some very good MLS oriented original programming. Neither network has the Primera Division in Mexico which by a more than two to one margin is the most popular soccer league in the US in terms of television viewership. GOL TV also have La Liga, with two of the more popular club teams in America, while FSC depends on the Premier League.

Interesting about the FSC/Setanta synergy. Here in Canada, we have Fox Sports World Canada a trainwreck of a channel that has no Premiership coverage. Instead we sometimes have International Fight League, Indoor Soccer, US college soccer, two inane round table sports talk shows etc. We do have lots of FA Cup games and Seria A on FSWC, but other than that it isn't too good.

As well, I believe our Setanta covers usually 8 premier league games/week (1 game/week is on Rogers Sportsnet and 1 game (Sunday @ 11h00 EST) is on the Score sports channel.

I never realized that the Mexican GOL coverage was not the highest level.

Does FSW Canada show MLS or not? Or are MLS rights in Canada held by the CBC?
