Started by The Gaffer · 10 months ago

Fox Soccer Channel and its parent company News Corp has signed a major deal with Nielsen Media Research that could have a big impact on what we see on the channel in the near future.
Nielsen will be conducting surveys to determine the viewing habits of people like you. They’re especia ... Continue reading »

  • Not me. Unless watching "several times" means tuning in to every scrap of live EPL, Chelsea TV, UCL, FSWR, Setanta & FSC previews, summaries, FFFI... GOLTV, ESPN Euro games, plus anything, (even Championship or Chelsea reserves) that's not MLS, or worse still college or girls youth soccer.
    LACF
  • Does this mean that FSC will show more than 18 hours of legitimate soccer programming per week on its channel? Because once you get past the four EPL games (eight hours), Fox World Report (one hour per night), the Argentine League game and "Dream Team," there's nothing but shite now on this network.
  • Agreed, Fox Soccer Channel has become the third best soccer channel in America-after Setanta and Gol TV. This is a good testament for the ridiculous decisions of the execs of the channel over the last 2 seasons: dropping Bundesliga and French League 1, and splitting the EPL rights w/ Setanta.
Hey, the channel offers women's college soccer(I'd rather watch baseball, which is the worst game in the world) than watch women's college soccer...

    FSC is a joke!
  • FSC still, to my knowledge, carries the EPL and the review and preview shows. they also are the only place to get college soccer (while not entertaining... its rather impressive they are trying to cover it). they have the canadian show, shows about american soccer, and dramas from england. they offer highlight shows every day from leauges all around the world...including replays of matches from the weekend. how is this bad? sure..they could do alot of stuff better, and they arent setanta... but they are a cable channel. Setanta is a premium service that isnt even marketted to Americans.

simply put, im in favor of more attention being put to FSC because I am a consumer and a very desirable demographic. I have near perfect credit, all my hair, a functional member, and overall no need for many of their ads. sadly, im not a huge fan of their store sponser (i will leave out the name for obvious reasons) but thats the only ad relevant to me.
  • If I could only choose one football channel to have, I would chose FSC without a doubt. It covers the most EPL games, has highlights shows every night, and has some fairly intelligent pundits (specifically Bobby McMahon).

I am surprised at the comments calling FSC the 'third best' when Setanta and Gol both over little or no highlights shows and coverage of the lesser known teams.
  • I agree - I grow tired of hearing people complain about Fox Soccer Channel. In my opinion it's doing a great job and by splitting with Setanta the die hards just get to see that many more games.
  • Well, there were 4 big games in Europe last weekend:
    Real-Barca

    Man U-Liverpool

    Werder-Bayern

    Marseilles-Lyon

How many did FSC show? 0 (ZERO) . Oh, wait, we got to see Cagliari and Torino play to an amazingly exciting 0:0 tie.

FSC deserves credit for the Report, which is quality programming, and FFF, and Sky Sports News, and Dream Team, but they just don't have the rights to show the big games from Europe, and, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
  • I like FSC and hope the Neilsen Rating thing does not back fire I can not get Setanta and Gol TV so do not know how they are
  • I won't watch any channel that won't label football correctly
