Turkey attacked, and successfully at that, and I was happy to hear Rae admit he had them pegged incorrectly.

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

Great game affected by lousy weather.

I believe Healey and Gray will do the final....isn't that a bit odd?

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

Put me down in the fan club for Steve Banyard. I miss FSC's coverage of the French Highlight Show that had Banyard as the narrartor.

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

Steve Banyard is great! He did the FIFA U-20 WC in 2005 and 2007. Some of the most memorable US calls including our wins against the eventual world champions, Argentina and Brazil were with him. Love him!

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

I should be more clear about my last post. Host Broadcast Services is the world feed producer for tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, and for UEFA. I should have explained that more clearly. Sorry !!

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

The feed went out here in Canada too.

Our coverage has been excellent. We've been treated to the host broadcast feed which has used British announcers Tony Jones, John Helm, Dave Woods and Steve Banyard. No 'color' commentator or summariser...whatever term you prefer to use. I prefer to call it noise :) I have to say I much prefer a one-person announced match as opposed to two or more. The atmosphere of the stadium is allowed to leak more into the broadcast and I feel more like I am there.

Anyone else feel that way?

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

Spoke to my Dad back in England and he said they had power for the second Turkey goal
which we didnt till the replay....
THat power outage ruined a fantastic television spectacle. Curses.

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

Yes, the signal went out worldwide. I was chatting with people in other countries at the time, and they reported the signal was down too. From the sound of it, not even play by play from the other TV guys was getting out for a time. The BBC reverted to it's radio commentary from Five Live to fill the gap.

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

we lost it too in new zealand they said it was worldwide lost coverage - true?

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

oh oh. Why they went back to the studio team is bizarre.

Re: Euro 2008 Semi Final Preview Germany v Turkey

NO TV!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gaffer,

This is why your idea for commentators not at the stadium is so poor. Normally we could just stay with Andy + Derrick and have them do radio, but instead we are treated to foudy and smyth stumbling over themselves to fill time and space.

Awful.
