Derby County Sack Billy Davies

Started by The Gaffer · 10 months ago

Derby County has announced that Billy Davies has left by “mutual consent” (the most over-used and illogical phrase since “weapons of mass destruction.”)

  • If Alex McLeish takes this job, he's a moron. With the job he did at Scotland he could have a more high-profile, more prestigious club job either in England or Europe than Derby or Birmingham or any of the other Premiership bottom-feeders. Scotland's WC 2010 qualification group isn't too difficult as they should challenge Holland to win the group and at the least, make the second-place playoffs, so I could see McLeish sticking around through qualifying if he was to receive a salary raise.
  • 'Whatever the final reason was for Davies getting the heave-ho, it's the correct decision by Derby County'

Yeah, so. Which manager exactly do you think could save them from relegation?
  • There's no manager that could save this team from relegation, but there are a few who could at least put some fight and spirit into them so they can go out kicking..McLeish is one of them, so is Paul Jewell, but the problem is no manager worth their salt would take this job.
  • I think Sammy Lee got the sack after a game with Chelsea too!
  • Feilhaber like all other Americans are s%^$# that should go back to MLS or play College Soccer. Earnshaw? Are you having a laugh?
  • Cant see anyone saving Derby - Billy Davies as said by Wenger was sacked for overacheiving. Come on, he came up via the play offs and then what - was exposed as weak in the Premiership? Of course. His squad should never have came up in honesty and then to slaughter him is unfair.
THis does by the way show the inequity of the transfer market. An new man (rumoured to be Ince) will come in and have to wait till Jan 1 to bring in players. This is hardly far on the manager or the club - chances are they will relegated by then. I feel for Davies, I dont think any manager could keep the current players up.
