  wen we unfortunately lose @ fulham.........ts gettin pple talkin the way we lack depth yet we beat a senior team wit kids.has any1 spared a thot if we tried play the seniors yestaday?????????????

  That's great that they have so much depth and all these fantastic young players, but it does them absolutely no good if they go trophyless for a sixth season in a row this year. It's that simple. Playing beautifully and thrashing teams with your kids is great, but it doesn't matter if you can't win something.

  Sheffield Utd are demanding that the FA launch an investigation into the eligibility of teenagers playing in the Carling Cup. "This is a man's game", said a spokesman for sour grapes, sorry, Sheffield Utd.
  
  They are demanding to not only be re-instated into the competition, but to be awarded the trophy outright.
  
  Failing that, a few million quid will do....

  None of the British xenophobes, nor their adversaries, have made much of the fact that there were 7 British outfield players on display for Arsenal yesterday. 7!!!
  
  In a few years' time, the England national team will be comprised almost entirely of current and ex Arsenal players. And who says Arsene Wenger hates British players...?

  How many of those kids will actually end up playing for Arsenal in the long term? Most of them will probably be sold at top dollar over the next 2-4 years so that the club can finish paying off its Emirates Stadium financing.

  I'd rather play beautiful and build from within than have to buy star players for huge amounts in order to win and have huge debts that are massive loads on the team. So massive that if the club didn't make the Champions league, they would most likely have to sell every quality player and maybe go into admission (here's looking at you Liverpool, and Man Utd as well maybe?). As well as not having a billionare owner who uses my team as a play thing for a hobby, ready to discard when not interesting anymore...

  michael, we won the fa cup in 05. thats 8-5=3. 3 years michael.
  
  michael arsenal have the team model that every team would die to have. why do you have to lose money every transfer season to buy an overpriced 27 year old who might or might now work with the existing chemistry of your club? arsene has made arsenal into a self sustaining club that has never been relegated and never will be relegated. the scouting networks are endless world wide, the club never requires money to be put into the club, and stays within a budget while maintaining a consistent level of competitiveness..and playing one of the most attractive football in the world doesnt hurt either.
  besides, we lost the trophy by 4 points. 4 points, while everyone, inclucding this site predicted us ending up in 5th.
  oh and michael about cesc not being world class, lets compare steven gerrard who you say is world class and cesc fabregas who you say isnt world class, at the age of 19-21.
  first gerrard, in 00/01 when he was 20 he scored 10 goals in 50 games, thats 7 in 33 premier league games and 2 in 9 champs league games.
  in 01/02 he scored 4 goals in 45 games, thats 3 in 28 premier league games and 1 goal in 15 european games.
  now cesc, in 06/07 when he was 19 he scored 4 goals in 54 games, thats 2 goals in 38 premier league games, and 2 goals in 10 chmps league games.
  in 07/08 when he was 20, he scored 13 goals in 45 games, 7 goals in 32 premier league games, and 6 goals in 10 champions league games.
  this isnt counting assists because i couldnt find any stats on gerrard's assists, but cesc had 16 in 06/07 and 24 in 07/08.
  if gerrard is a world class player, than cesc is a legend because he's doing everything a year earlier than gerrard and to a larger extent.

  Of course it does them good. It gives them lots of players coming up to either take first team spots in future seasons, or to sell to finance other acquisitions. This is great for the health of the club. It is one of Arsene's most important achievements in his time at Arsenal, developing such a strong youth system gives a club immense flexibility since it provides cheap, quality players which frees up further funds for other purchases.
  
  Sure, we'd like to win more trophies. That goes for every team. I don't really see how it has any relevance here.
