But he took some time to settle in Villa.

King started well in that season before getting injured and was out for almost the entire season. I put him in my fantasy team during the start of the season and I had to move him out when he got injured. Thats why I still remember it...[:D]

Re: Cristiano Ronaldo: What Were You Thinking?

I agree with Bikesh...the MOTD feed had an isolated shot (no commentary, etc) and there was no audible whistle. I think Ronaldo just mistimed his jump and didn't want to get smacked in the face. A yellow card for that? Probably harsh

Re: Breaking News: Roy Keane Quits Sunderland

Buy more players?? They already have 36 players in the squad. They'll need to clear out a bunch first. Chimbonda could go, he's angling for yet another move...this time to Lyon. There are also a number of other players that could be cut or sold. Once they trim down then maybe they can think about paying 1 or 2 players.

Re: Calamity James Strikes Again

I hadnt seen this yesterday, sheer class and this is why no matter how well James does week in , week out - that he cannot play for England - he has far too many of these in him....Great video.

Re: If Premier League Clubs Were Rock Bands

i think Apocalyptica with Chelsea now...chelsea's playing beautifully, just like Apocalyptica's loud but wonderful violins.

Re: Calamity James Strikes Again

I'm not sure what to say...

Ughhh....

Re: Guide to English Accents of Premier League Cities

hi, the guy doing the east yorkshire accent isnt from hull. he sounds like hes near middlesbrough. hull accent doesnt really sound like anywhere else in yorkshire as there was alot of immigration to hull in the 1800s.

Re: Breaking News: Roy Keane Quits Sunderland

Easier said than done. Correct unselfish decision that not many will take for the good of the club, not jeapordizing the club's possible recovery period. Walking out of Sunderland when he had helped them from first division relegation to Premier League promotion? What a pile of rubbish since you can't even pulled it off in any computer video game any given time yourself ! He did it with Wales, who were in a mess after he left. And he did it at Blackburn, where the players look nowhere near as good as they did last year.

I'm with Phil on this one. Give him until the end of this month, and if things don't change, get a new gaffer. Otherwise, Rovers will be back in the Championship where they used to be for so many years before Jack Walker came on to the scene.

Cheers,
The Gaffer

Re: Poll: Should Paul Ince Stay Or Should He Go?

The only thing I think he has done wrong is when he was linked with the Newcastle job at the time of Keegan's departure, he was far too slow to distance himself and I thought you sneaky sod - I suspect he'd have taken had the climate there been safer...

Beyond that - Pederson is declining year on year, bringing in Fowler was a gamble but at least it was a cheap one, other than that I cant see what he has been able to do in terms of reshaping the team, he has barely had a quarter of the transfer window and lost his best asset immediately.

Re: New Newcastle United Third Shirt For 2008/2009 Season

only NEWCASTLE UNITED!!!
i'm your fan from GEORGIA!!!

Re: Poll: Should Paul Ince Stay Or Should He Go?

All fair comments Simon.

But Blackburn have never looked good this season. No offence Gaffer I am not referencing you directly.

A few weeks ago the Bolton fans were chanting vile things at Gary Megson (Toby from The Office US Version) because Bolton on the BRING OF DISASTER - you know, in the bottom 3 in September. A few good results against equally mediocre (or equally well matched depending on your view) teams and they are charging towards Europe...

Arsenal CLUB in CRISIS... through in Champions League with game to spare and well within reach of top 4 where they currently reside.

CHELSEA - top of league and only need a result at home to relegated Romanian team to progress - yet another club in crisis this week.

LIVERPOOL - hours later go top of the league , through in Europe with game to spare... they are also another CRISIS RIDDEN CLUB as they went top on the back of 2 home goalless draws. I repeat - TOP.

This instant success is becoming a joke - all these crisis clubs. Only one can win, only 3 can go down and West Brom are most people's certainly to be one.
As for the other 2, who knows? ITs Blackburn today - its Wigan tomorrow, its Fulham in December, its newcastle in March....

When so few points separate 6th from 19th I'd say 3/4 of the league is relegation threatened right now. Sacking a man who is new , who lost Bentley, who will likely lose Santa Cruz and has been given virtually no financial backing and who is a few points off the top half seems crazy. The media sells us all this nonsense and fans buy it. I would be worried if it was March and Blackburn were adrift but this isnt the case and clearly an overreaction in a league lacking any common sense.

And so to Blackburn

Re: If Premier League Clubs Were Rock Bands

Hmmmm, Chelsea with all their big bucks hardly strike me as a punk band... Keane has a history of walking when he doesn't get his own way. I can't see him going back to management. He spent a fortune at Sunderland and then walked out rather than work to turn things around. What chairman would want to risk that happening again?

Re: Breaking News: Roy Keane Quits Sunderland

I think he should stay with Sunderland. They are just unlucky to lose some of the game. If they are able to win for the coming match, they can be out of the relegation zone. Need we remember the Roman Empire. It had its glory. Spread from Gibraltar to Judea, from North Africa to Britania. It spread itself to thin and reaped its own demise. Its only a matter of time before we see the global shift turn to China and India. With Premier League teams playing more preseason matches in Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Torkyo, Beijing and Tokyo, no wonder they have more fans (and it has nothing to do with population). The Japanese back in 1992 were laughing at the prospects of a professional football league (its not called soccer) in Japan, the J-League. Now its the most successful and lucrative football league in Asia. And with back to back Asian Champions League wins by my Urawa Reds and now Ghamba Osaka shows how an open mind can change the view of the world sport. Now in Japan, tv ratings for football have surpassed those of baseball. Luckily I live Toronto ,Canada, (and travel to and from Japan) the most muliticultural city in the world. Football is everywhere. We have everybody from almost every country on the globe and that adds to the public eye of football. I walk in Toronto (not just to my MAN U supporters club) and I can find someone who can name all the teams in the top leagues in Europe. We even have a supporters club for St. Etienne from Ligue1 in France. We have a ton of supporters club and knowledgable people who are encyclopedia's of the worlds game. And for you Americans out there I say remember the Roman the Empire. And just a side bar for you south of the 44, Japan isn't part of Hawaii. Long live the world sport, football. Hey Gaffer I thought neanderthal americans were extinct. lol. Good artcile Gaffer. Cheers m8!
