Just goes to prove he is much funnier in print than when you hear him on the podcasts - he really does sound like a curmudgeonly old sod! Gaffer, do you pay (handsomely or otherwise) your interviewees? Or even send 'em an EPL Talk T-shirt?

Funnily enough, I asked him again a day later and here was his subsequent reply:

I appreciate the interest and normally flattery would get you everywhere - but having interrogatory projectiles hurled at me is not something I'd be interested in at all. Sorry, but I'd find talking about myself even more

excruciating and dull than talking about podcasts. I've done it a couple of times before as favours for people and I'm not doing it again unless I'm contractually obliged to do so when promoting my Hollywood blockbuster starring my new wife Keira Knightly. So sorry about that ...
