  • The bookies just throw out the names they want. Why would Bilic or Hiddink consider England?
  • I don't think it will be Mourinho. He wants to coach Portugal down the road in his career. At this point I think he'll jump back into a club setup somewhere in Spain. However, it's Jose and you never know what that chap is going to do next.

Hiddink turned down England once already and I don't think much has happened to make him change his mind should they approach him again. I rate him very highly as a manager and England are unfortunate to not have signed him.

Capello or Lippi are both good candidates. You would imagine they could handle the media scrutiny as coaching in Italy is pretty tough as well.

O'Neill has done OK for himself at club level and is an intelligent and frank speaker.

I would think the FA will go with someone who has experience in getting a country qualified for a major international or European tournament so could rule out quite a few names right away.
  • Whomever it is England can't do worse than the USA who after striking out with Klinsmann, Pekerman, Erickson and Quieroz hired a domestic manager who had been fired recently by an MLS team because he was availible. It doesn't get more comical than that.
