Started by The Gaffer · 3 months ago

  • According to the bookies this evening, Jose Mourinho is 25/1 to take the England job. Any bidders?
  • No offense, but I never understood why you said they had a mountain to climb. I know hindsight is 20/20 but given the 2-0 aggregate lead I thought that Inter had to show an incredibly attacking form that they haven't and ultimately didn't ever deliver.
  • I think Mutu & Chivu can be the key players for Romania and Modric and Kranjcar for Croatia. I have good feeling about both of those countries.
  • Look for Mario Gomez to be the breakout player of the tournament.
  • I've got my eye on Tranquillo Barnetta and Valon Behrami from Switzerland.
  • This is linked to the wrong article...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to impressive showings from the obvious:
    Benzema
    Huntelaar
    Nasri

And the maybe not so obvious:
    David Silva
    Modric
    Kranjcar
    Aquilani
    Bosingwa
  • This is linked to the wrong story again. Just a quick note on your article Gaffer, Sneijder is capable with both feet but actually takes most free-kicks with his right.

Plasil will have to step up in the Czech midfield to fill the absence of Rosicky.

Austria might not do much but keep an eye on their striker Roland Linz.

The Russia squad has a number of potential breakout stars like Pogrebnyak and Akinfeev
  • Sorry about the comments being linked with the wrong story. I figured out the bug but won't be able to fix it for this story (but it'll fixed for other ones).

Feel free to contribute your ideas of who you think will shine in Euro 2008. Great stuff. Good point Lonnie about Sneijder's killer right foot.

    Cheers,
    The Gaffer
